Signs That Gambling Is Becoming a Problem

Gambling has become a problem when it stops being a choice and starts to drive your decisions. Common signs include spending more than you planned or can afford, chasing losses with larger bets, borrowing money or skipping bills to play, lying to family about how much you gamble, and feeling irritable or anxious when you try to stop. Other signs are playing for longer sessions than you intended, losing interest in hobbies and work, and gambling to escape stress or low mood. If two or more of these sound familiar, use the tools below and contact one of the free services in the help section at the end of this page.

How We Keep Under-18s Out

Only people aged 18 or over may register, play or claim bonuses at SlotsEater, and this minimum applies across all of Australia. We check the date of birth given at registration and ask for a government-issued photo ID, such as an Australian driver’s licence, a passport or a Medicare card, before any withdrawal is released. If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it, and we return the deposits and cancel the winnings. Parents and guardians can help by using the parental controls built into phones, tablets and computers, by installing filtering software, and by keeping cards and account passwords out of reach of children.

Setting a Budget Before You Play

Gambling is entertainment with a cost, and it is never a way to earn income or to recover money you have lost. Decide on a budget before you start, use only money that is left after bills, rent and savings, and treat that budget as spent the moment you deposit it. Set a time limit for each session, take breaks, and avoid playing when you are tired, upset or under the influence of alcohol. Never chase a loss by depositing again, and never play with borrowed money.

The Limits and Controls You Can Set on Your Account

SlotsEater gives you three controls in the Responsible Gaming section of your account settings, on both the website and the mobile app. They can be activated without contacting support.

ToolWhat it doesWhen it takes effect
Deposit limitCaps the amount you can deposit in a chosen periodImmediately when tightened
Session time limitEnds or warns you when a session reaches the set lengthImmediately when tightened
Self-exclusionBlocks access to your account for the period you chooseImmediately

Tightening a limit applies at once. Loosening or removing a limit takes effect only after a cooling-off period, so a decision made during a losing streak cannot undo a limit you set when you were calm. To reverse a self-exclusion, or to ask about a longer break, contact support at [email protected].
